New New New

We often get into a rhythm at Step, teaching similar lessons at a similar time of year, but one of the most exciting things is when we get to do something for the first time in a school.

This term at SJL has felt like this, as we have been able to introduce 3 new lessons into the school from year 7 - year 11.

Year 7 - In Dec and Jan, we got to teach our 'Who is Jesus?' and 'Parables' lessons for the first time at SJL! With this comes the opportunity of giving out the 'Good News for Everyone' Bibles, in which 135 Bibles were optionally taken!

One stand out moment from this lesson series was during the last parables lesson. The lesson got vastly side-tracked by a curious class with a plethora of questions:

'When was the Bible written?'
'When was the first copy of the Bible put together?'
'Where can I see the original transcripts?'
'Isn't God just a bit arrogant for making us just to love Him?'
'In the parable of the hidden treasure, why would we have to sell everything and have nothing to be with God?'

(Just remember, these are 11 and 12 year olds!)

Year 11 - Life Skills Lessons: Identity
We have also loved getting to spend time with the year 11 students, looking at their Myers Briggs personality types. This last week we have journeyed with the classes, seeing them understand themselves and their friends more. These sessions conclude with us helping the students recognise that as Christians we believe we are all created uniquely by God! This is the first life skills lessons in the school, and we are excited to meet with other year groups later on in the year too!

We thank God for every opportunity we get in the schools, and it is exciting to see Him opening new doors across all of our schools!
