A Week of Beaumont

Last week we had a brilliant time with students from Beaumont.

We started the week with Year 12’s and spent time getting them to think about the world around them and the impact of their actions on it. We did a Leadership Foundations Taster Session with them, in which they thought about character and different leadership styles. For those in the year who don’t see themselves as natural leaders it gave them a chance to see how they can influence people around them. Our hope is that it caused them to think about how everyone can be involved in leadership, and that it can just look different person to person.

At the end of the week on Thursday and Friday we had Year 10 Step Days and used the space at Verso Vineyard Church. This is the first time we had days like this with Year 10’s and offsite. We had a huge amount of fun, doing a whole range of activities with them from games, to thinking about what a journey of a refugee could be like. We also gave them the opportunity to have a creative session where they sculpted things out of clay.

All three days were full of fun and created the space for them to hear how the Christian faith can impact how Christians react in different situations. Whilst we were washing up after pottery with one group, they were asking questions like “What does God’s presence feel like?” To have conversations like these are always a joy and privilege and it was an extraordinary way to end the academic year.
