Practicing Hospitality

Hospitality is something we see regularly in the Bible - in fact, Jesus can often be found practicing this with those around him. It never fails to surprise me how transformative hospitality can be, not just for the ones we serve but also for ourselves. At this time of the year in the run up to Christmas, I find myself thinking about hospitality more. This time of year, we are often able to get together with those dearest to us but there are also opportunities for us to draw alongside those who are in close proximity but not as well known.

Last week we had our Illuminate Cafe Christmas Party. It was full of food, laughter and chatter whilst looking back on the year that has been and towards the year to come. We had a chance to share something we were grateful for, and it was beautiful to hear from the young people. The connections that have been made throughout the year(s) have come about because of volunteers being willing to practice hospitality, opening doors and giving up time to spend time with them.

As we enter the final days in the run up to Christmas, I hope that you have a wonderful time celebrating the birth of Christ and remembering all that He has done and continues to do for us.
