Youth Alpha Group Changes to Explore Group!

Back in January I wrote a latest news about the first Youth Alpha in Townsend since 2019. Jane, Shannon and I have been running the latest course across this term. On Tuesday we had our last week on the course which was lovely but came around far too soon! 

Last week Shannon (St Marks Youth Minister) and I were discussing how sad we were about the course coming to and end. Some of the students has made comments about their sadness of the group ending in the second to last session as well. We wanted to be able to offer the students a good next step where they could continue to connect with us. 

Most of them were busy on a Wednesday when I run a hang-out space called the Burrow. So sticking with Tuesday was going to be ideal. Over the course we’ve had 14 student spend time with us with 8 of them regulars and we wanted a space where they could continue to spend time with us exploring the Christian faith and being able to invite their friends along a little more freely than the Youth Alpha course allows. So what better thing to offer than an Explore group running on Tuesday lunch times the only difference being they don’t stay with us for form time as well.

We floated the idea with the students in the last session and they were beyond excited! We are delighted they want to continue spending time with us exploring questions of faith. We will be starting Explore with them on Tuesday so please be praying that it continues to be fruitful for them. 

We are also very excited to be seeing a lot of the students involved in Youth Alpha tonight at the Illuminate event which is also a successful outcome of their journey with us. 

Praise God for so many good things coming from this space and this wonderful group of young people.
